Erich passed away peacefully on May 17, 2008. Preceded in death by brother-in-law Elmer Derks. Survived by loving wife Ruth; daughter Diane (Jerry) Kortus; sons Eric (Linda), Tom (Kathy) and David (Sally) Hempel; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many friends & relatives. Erich was a WWII veteran & recipient of the purple heart for wounds received on the naval destroyer USS Colhoun. He also was a long time employee at Univac. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to St. James. Memorial Service THUR 11:00am at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH 460 West Annapolis in W. St. Paul. Visitation from 9:30 to 11:00. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery.
