Mary Johnson

March 8, 1929 — August 5, 2013

Beloved Mother, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Great-Great Grandma and Sister Age 84 of Maplewood on August 5, 2013. The daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Sims, she was born in Little Falls, MN on March 8, 1929. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ernest (Tex) Johnson; her son-in-law, Dick DeMarre; grandson, Shawn Steiner; brother Richard Sims and sister-in-law Helen Sims. She is survived by five daughters, Nancy DeMarre, Lanora (Ray) Carlson, Shirley (Jim) McGinn, Juanita (Kelly) Skinner, Texana (Frank) Neft and by three sons, Rodney (Susan) Weiss, Ronald (Nina) Weiss and Leonard Weiss. She is also survived by 38 Grandchildren and over 50 Great and Great-Great Grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Mary) Sims, and many other friends and relatives. Since becoming suddenly blind in August, 2008, her life was a real challenge. She was no longer the happy, confident and independent person she had been. Yes, we grieve, but our greatest joy is that we know our mom and grandma can "see" as she joins the loved ones who preceded her. "I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see!" Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Thursday at Kessler & Maguire Funeral Home. Funeral Service 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home with a visitation starting at 10 AM. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
