Harriet Evelyn Getterz Wade, daughter of Evelyn Mularky Getterz and Harry Getterz was born on February 9, 1933, in St Paul, and lived her whole life in the the St Paul area.
Harriet was married to Dick (Richard) Wade and was probably in love with him since first meeting him in grade school. Dick once sweetly told a story of Harriet's having drawn some pictures of horses. She gave these to Dick as a gift. Harriet and Dick continued school together, graduating from Monroe High School. They married and had two sons, Michael William, and Paul Jeffrey.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Margaret Getterz Yoswa. She is survived by her husband Dick, brother Robert Getterz, brother-in-law Larry Yoswa, sons Michael and Paul, daughters-in-law Linda and Margaret, grandchildren Kathryn and Thomas, great grandson Gavin, and many lovely nieces and nephews.
Harriet will be missed . She was a determined, spirited, smart, strong woman. She had a great laugh and she was always beautiful. Harriet loved a good, strong cup of coffee, champagne, traveling, books, and dinners at DeGidio's and Mancini's. She made excellent banana bread, had a clean, lovely home. and she religiously watched the Vikings with Dick. She was supportive of family--immediate and extended, always sending the best birthday cards. Those who remember Harriet feel a deep sense of gratitude for having known her. Harriet died peacefully on October 28 after suffering a severe stroke the previous week.
Visitation 4-8 PM Tuesday October 31 at Kessler & Maguire Funeral Home, 640 W. 7th St. St Paul. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
