Age 69, passed away on June 23, 2022 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Jim was born to Donley J Johnson and Rose Wallace Johnson on October 22, 1952. Jim grew up in St Paul, MN and attended St. Agnes, Christ Child, and Crowley Schools. As a kid Jim swam at Lake McCarron, took lessons in scuba diving, karate, and guitar. He excelled in art and was mechanically inclined. He graduated in 1970 from Monroe High School, where he played trumpet in the school band.
In 1980 Jim received his Degree of Occupational Proficiency in Welding from the Eveleth Area Vocational Technical Institute.
Jim had a good attitude toward life, enjoyed helping people, and treated people well. Anytime Jim was able, he could be found working on his cars or tinkering with his toys in the garage.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Donley J Johnson; mother of his children, Alethea Jackson; and longtime partner Roxanne Besch.
He is survived by his mother Rose, soon to be 100 years old; son Zachary James Johnson (Kristin Kuettel Johnson), Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter Zolena Ashley Johnson (Jorge Vargas Sr), Ada, MN; sister Laurie Johnson, Saint Paul, MN; brother Steven (Cathy) Johnson, Snellville, GA; as well as grandchildren, Gabriella, Audrianna, Jorge Jr, Jonathan, great grandson Gabriel James; and nephews Sean, Shayne, Ahren, Cole, and Jess.
Jim will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Saint Paul.
