passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2022, at age 91, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Lorna (née Dale); his children Ron May, Karen May, and Kathy Hardgrave (David Hardgrave); and his three grandchildren, Andrew May (Kate Torgovnick May), Amber Guettler (Tristen Guettler), and Daniel Hardgrave; brothers Byron May, Myron May, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: his parents, daughter Lorene May, daughter-in-law Crystal May, brother John May, sister Armilda Young.

Jim was born on June 5, 1931, in Portland, Indiana, to Russell May and Harriet (née Boots). While serving in the Air Force, he met his wife Lorna in South Dakota — they moved to Minneapolis in 1958. Jim worked as a civil engineer for the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 32 years, designing important arteries throughout the Twin Cities. He loved working in his wood shop, helping friends with projects, weekly Bible study for forty-plus years, visiting with his friends, and most of all, his family.

His Memorial Service will be 1pm Thursday, November 10 at Riverview Baptist Church, 14 Moreland Ave E, in West St Paul, Minnesota, visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Neighbors, Inc, South St Paul, MN.
