Mary Masloski

Mary Alice Masloski, age 92 of Saint Paul, passed away on June 22, 2023.   

Mary was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on October 24th, 1930, to Peter and Alice Schommer. She grew up in multiple areas of Saint Paul, living on Fuller Avenue near the MN State Capital when she graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1948.  While in high school, she enjoyed being a member of the choir, and had fond memories of singing in performances and competitions.  She was just a teenager when she met Raymond Masloski and the two were married in May 1950.  Together they raised 5 children and ran the Joe & Stan’s Bar on West Seventh Street.  Mary adored her family and took great pride and joy over all her grandchildren.  Although she was never able to go to school to become a nurse, she was an excellent friend and care giver to many friends and family that fell ill. 

Mary enjoyed fishing and was an avid bowler attending many bowling tournaments in cities across the states (Fort Lauderdale, Tucson, Buffalo, Reno, Quad Cities, Indianapolis, Syracuse, El Paso, Charlotte, Tulsa, Wichita, Milwaukee). 

She also enjoyed trips that include Alaska, D.C, New England, Canada, and Germany.  She was able to visit many of the National Parks (Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain, Grand Teton, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Badlands, Shenandoah, Acadia). 

When she wasn’t traveling, Mary enjoyed family gatherings, garage sales, walking, cooking, reading, ceramics, needlepoint/crafts, being part of an exercise group, cribbage and other card games. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Raymond; her brothers Paul and Donald, and son-in-law Terry Kelly  

Mary will be deeply missed and  is survived by her children, Gary (Shelly), Rick (Pam), Steve (Cathy), Mary Jo Kelly, and  Bob (Amanda); 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Margaret; lifelong friend, Bev Kaufenberg; and many other family members and friends.
