Melba Smrcka

Born in Bode, Iowa on Sept. 3rd, 1918, passed away peacefully at the age of 107 and 3 months in Minneapolis, MN at Mt. Olivet Careview Nursing Home. Prior to October of this year, she had lived in the same house in Richfield, MN. since 1959.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ervin, "Ski", Smrcka, in 2007, parents, Carl and Sarah Haugen, three brothers, Virgil, Russell and Sterling Haugen.

She is survived by her son, Jerry and wife Sandy, of Buffalo, MN. and daughter, Nancy and husband Jim Kramer, of Ennis, MT. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Smrcka {Janette}, Adam Smrcka, Kevin Kramer {Kayla} and Samantha Smrcka Callan {Patrick}. She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Westley Smrcka, Emma Peterson Smrcka {Hanna}, Aiden, Anna, Madeline, and Maren Smrcka, Nora and Lily Kramer, and Everett Callan.

Services to be held at Mt. Olive ELCA Church 3045 Chicago Ave. Mpls. MN on Thursday, Dec. 11th at 10:30AM with visitation beginning at 9:45a.m. Interment to follow at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at 1 PM. Memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Careview, or Grace Hospice.
