Richard Banz

Richard M. Banz, age 98 of Saint Paul, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on July 20, 2023. Preceded in death by parents, Leonard and Catherine Banz; wife, Harriet; siblings, Mary, Catherine and Robert; daughter in law, Ai Hue Banz; and granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Banz. Survived by children, Richard (Julie), James, Barbara (Lowell); grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen (JJ), Rachael (Shawn), Michaela (Grant), Madeline, Joseph (Phung Le), Theresa (Jake), Rebecca (Jake) and Alex (fiancé Julia); great-grandchildren, Harrison, Hannah, Ellie, Emmy, Hudson, Miles, Matthew, Matilda, Lincoln and Edith. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 11^th, at 11AM at St. Francis de Sales Church, 650 Palace Ave, St Paul. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Private inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights. Memorials preferred to St. Francis de Sales Church.

Dad left behind a legacy of love and faith, kindness to others, a rapier-like wit, a deep appreciation for classical music, a love of good food, and a commitment to keeping himself physically fit. He ran six marathons, his first one being when he was 60 years old. 

Thanks for the great memories; we love you and miss you. Give grandma a big hug from all of us. We honor your Coast Guard service.
