Rita Marie Rossel was born at 7:57 a.m. on August 3rd, 1944, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Esperanza (Rodgriguez) Zamora and Ramon Zamora. She was a devoted wife, a loving, funny, and opinionated mother, and a deeply caring grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 18th, 2026, at the age of 82.
When people remember Rita, they remember her being full of attitude and living life her own way at all times. She always surrounded herself with family and friends and knew how to laugh and hug in a way that made the world melt away. She loved cooking for her friends and family and brought warmth and care to everyone around her. She loved to be spoiled, always appreciated quality time with her family members, and loved best that way. She was also a dedicated mom to many sweet animals over the years. Rita is known to all as a woman who both lived and died on her own terms.
She was the beloved wife and lifelong love to Roberto Rossel, to whom she was married for 42 years. He was by her side for over half of his life until the day she passed.
She is survived and remembered by her loving husband, Roberto Rossel, her siblings: Irene Peraez, Raymond Zamora, Pauline Kilmer, Mary Watkins, Joseph Zamora, Lynda Haugen, Mary Lou Garcia, and two others. She also had six children: Cathalina Young, Victoria Skottegaard, Juan Juarez, Patricia Samuelson, Rob Rossel, and Jose Rossel. She will also be missed by her 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was loved deeply by many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis B. Juarez (59), her mother, Esperanza (Rodgriguez) Zamora, her father, Ramon Zamora, and her sister Ramona Zamora.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Kessler & Maguire Funeral Home (640 W. 7th Street in St. Paul) on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
