Rosalie Marie (Jirovec) Peterson, 99 ½, formerly of St. Paul, MN, died peacefully in her sleep Friday, October 18, 2024, while living at Orchard View Terrace in New Richmond, WI. Born April 2, 1925 in Pine County, MN, Rosie was raised as a hard-working farm girl, living through the Great Depression, and leaving high school to join the WW2 war effort. She married Harold A. Peterson on September 9, 1948. She raised three sons, Bob, Randy, Kenny and one stepson, David Peterson.
Longtime resident of the West End Neighborhood of St. Paul, Rosie worked in the food service industry as a waitress and short order cook in several local establishments including Gannon’s Supper Club, O’Garas and The Patio Lounge. She was also an active member at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Highland Park Booya Association. This past summer she also celebrated 45 years of sobriety with a special visit from members of her local support group.
Rosie had friends all over her neighborhood as well as different parts of the country, including her favorite getaways in Las Vegas and Laughlin, NV, where she was one of the luckiest slots players anybody knew. She was always excited to show her guests her latest Polaroid in front of a Sizzlin Seven jackpot. Her family may have known her best for Thanksgiving holiday time, where she was proud to have prepared and served Thanksgiving dinner every year for 71 years!
Surviving Rosalie are two of her children; Bob (Marsha) Peterson, of New Richmond, WI, Randy, of Inver Grove Heights, MN and daughter-in-law, Val Peterson, St. Paul, MN. Grandchildren; Brian (Patty), Nate (Teresa), Brad, Mike (Chelsea), David (April), Zach (Kelly), and many great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her son, Kenneth, daughter-in-law, Gerri, and stepson David. Along with her parents, five brothers and sisters, and many friends.
