Sister Mary Lucy Scheffler OSF

SCHEFFLER, Sister Mary Lucy OSF (Corrine) age 92, longtime resident of St. Paul, passed away February 2, 2024.  Born to George & Anna (Jacques) Scheffler in New Prague, Minnesota September 19, 1931.  She was the second youngest of fourteen children.
 
In 1950 Corrine began her journey to become a Franciscan Sister of St. Paul.  In 1953 Corrine became Sister Mary Lucy.  For many years she worked as a Medical Technologist at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee eventually becoming the Clinical Medical Supervisor. Sister May Lucy also became the Vocation/Formation Director for many years until she became the Regional Directress until the Regional Center was closed in 2012. At that point the 5 Sisters moved to Cerenity of Marian to enjoy their retirement.  Sr. Mary Lucy did not take to retirement very easily.  She volunteered at mass, praying with the sick and keeping staff on task.
 
Sister Mary Lucy is survived by the 3 remaining Franciscan Sisters within her community, Sister-in-law Evelyn Scheffler, Charlene Scheffler, and Patricia Scheffler, many nieces & nephews.  Preceded in death by parents Anna & George brother & sisters-in-law, Joseph Scheffler, Al & Lucille Scheffler, Leo & Mary Scheffler, Edward & Rose Scheffler, Ralph Scheffler & Matthew Scheffler.  Sisters & Brothers-in-law Mary & Elmer Karl, Louise Scheffler, Florence & Dan McCarthy, Margaret & Jerome Stans, Mildred & Don Hauer, two siblings that died in infancy, and many of the Sisters in her community. 
 
Funeral Mass 11:00AM, Friday, February 9, 2024, at St. Mary's Chapel within Cerenity Marian of St. Paul, 200 Earl Street, St. Paul, MN 55106. Memorial Gathering begins one hour prior to Mass.  Special thank you to the staff at Cerenity Marian for all the years of care & support.
