Barbara Micol

August 28, 1932 — September 26, 2021

St. Paul

Barbara Micol, born August 28, 1932, passed away on Sunday September 26, 2021 after a short
illness. Her two children, Melissa Porter of St. Paul, MN and Charlie Micol of Chelmsford, MA
were with her during her last few days. In addition to her children, she is survived by her son-in-
law Stephen Porter and her daughter-in-law Shayna Micol and grandchildren Daniel Porter,
Alena Porter, Jackson Micol, Brody Micol, and Gia Micol.
Barbara was born in Lansing, Michigan and was raised by Hilda and Jack Wilson. She moved
from Lansing to Boston, Massachusetts and married Roger L, Micol in 1957. They lived for
many years in Chelmsford where Melissa and Charlie grew up. Barbara moved to Dunedin,
Florida in 1983. Since her elder grandchildren were born, she split her time in Dunedin and St.
Paul, finally settling permanently at Gracewood Highland Park Senior Living in St. Paul,
Minnesota. She was active and was so happy with the Gracewood community. The family is
grateful for the care and concern given her by all the staff there over the years.
In addition to being devoted to her grandchildren, Barbara loved to cook and bake and
entertain. She made awesome appetizers and loved Sunday dinners. She was crafty and down
to earth. She volunteered and supported many community and civic organizations. She always
loved getting out into natural habitats and supported land conservation efforts. She loved
being down by the banks of the Mississippi River and on the beaches of Dunedin, Florida.
An informal gathering to celebrate her life with Melissa and Charlie will be held Friday October
1 at Hidden Falls Regional Park in St. Paul, MN from 4-7 pm. Visitation hours will be held at
Blake Funeral Home in Chelmsford, MA on Thursday, October 7 from 4-7 pm with internment in
Chelmsford, MA on October 8.
