Juanita Meza

May 25, 1951 — July 7, 2020

St. Paul

Age 69 of St. Paul, passed away surrounded by love and prayer on July 7th after a courageous battle with terminal cancer. Despite defying her initial diagnosis and fighting 2 years beyond original prognosis, Juanita was able to meet her beautiful grandchild.

Preceded in death by her mother, Francisca Meza and brother-in-law Brian Linscheid, Sr. as well as many aunts, uncles and loved ones.

Survived by her daughter, Dulce Meza and granddaughter, Milagros Meza and grand-dog Zeus; her father, Gilberto Meza; siblings Gilbert (Araceli), Atanacio (Lynn), Silverio (Cindy Kautz), Lydia Linscheid, Mario (Kristy), and Jose; as well as loving childhood friends Jean Scheuring and Kathy Olson. Juanita was blessed with so very many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, very special nieces and nephews, and friends who have been by her side through her journey here on earth. Juanita offered so much love, support and guidance to all and was known for her kindness, strength, and compassion.

She enjoyed traveling, was deeply rooted in faith, was a great friend, and devoted matriarch. Juanita was an avid Twins fan and she was able to combine her love of baseball and travel and see her Twins compete nationally during her retirement. Juanita was the spirited #1 fan for her daughter Dulce and her friends on and off the field. Caring and sharing in her daughter’s life and friendships was her pride and joy.

In her 30+ year career at the University of Minnesota, she offered her talents to many faculty, employees and students and ended her career with many great friends and colleagues, especially Jane Blees and Judy Swanson.

We love you Juanita for all you were for us and all you will be in heaven with Him. May eternal rest be upon you, I cannot wait until we reunite and you can tell us all “God is Good!” Private Funeral 11 AM Tuesday July 21 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Celebration of life and interment will be set for a later date. Per church regulations, masks required, social distancing strongly suggested.
